Amar came to Enterprise Made Simple in April 2019 with a strong ambition to start his own business.
Soon after Amar had joined Enterprise Made Simple, we moved him onto the New Enterprise Allowance(NEA) scheme – which is part-funded by ESF. We also worked with Amar through European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Amar has been struggling with some health issues and was looking for work which could fit around his schedule.
Amar has a strong family history of self-employment within the retail sectors (mostly market stalls), and with advice from family had identified a niche market to establish his trade.
We worked on all aspects of his idea;
- refining the product image
- marketing plan
- a viable storefront
While making sure his business was all financially viable.
Along the journey, it became apparent that Amar had come into financial issues and it was looking unlikely he would be able to access start-up loan funding as intended.
We worked through this together and were able to find alternative funding by finding a different supplier where Amar could purchase his stock on an interest-free credit account, and accessing both flexible support fund and routes to work to help Amar reach his goal.
Amar is now happily running his business ‘The Scent Bar‘, taking advantage of Christmas sales and feeling much better both mentally and physically.
He is now moving forward with his business growth plans. Amar intends to use the post-Christmas lull to work with his suppliers to develop new ranges and will be looking to recruit his first staff member in early spring. Amar’s 3-year plan is to offer a franchising option and spread his business throughout the North East.
