Nikki Mount was looking to start her own online clothing business specialising in items for women and children. However, Nikki needed help moving her business idea forward.
She was introduced to Siobhan, one of our business advisors. Siobhan helped Nikki gain business knowledge and support her to move forward into self-employment. Siobhan helped support and guidance to secure loan funding for start-up costs.
Nikki has now secured loan funding, registered her business Poppy Rose Boutique.
Prior to becoming involved in the activity, Nikki was unemployed. Being a single parent, she had found it difficult to find employment around her two children. Nikki wanted to create a business that would fit around her family.
Nikki had knowledge of her products and target market but no experience of establishing or running a business. Nikki had no funds to cover her start-up costs. She needed support to research and complete her business plan in order to secure loan funding. Nikki also required more knowledge around how to promote and retail her products from digital platforms.
Nikki attended an initial meeting to determine her needs and skills gaps. She was then directed to appropriate workshops that would address these areas. Further 1:1 meetings allowed more business planning to take place, developing Nikki’s knowledge and skills. This enabled Nikki to produce a detailed business plan and cash flow projections for use in starting her business and to support her successful loan application of £8,000.
