Table of Contents

With big ambitions to contribute to tackling wider social issues like seeing unemployment rates reduces, fewer families relying on food banks and no children going to school hungry while seeing the economy of the local area grow and Government investment drawn towards the region, Matt Irvine founded JobsIn North East to enable him to be self-employed and work around his disability and illness.

Starting out in 2014 as a Facebook community page to help local people and local businesses alike to raise awareness of employment opportunities in Teesside, JobsIN North East evolved into a commercial company in December 2018 and has firmly established its place as the go-to source of information about jobs in the region. Since it was established, Matt has lead to JobsIN North East build an online audience of almost 10k followers and expanded out of Redcar & Cleveland to now cover the whole of the North East

Describing himself as having zero business knowledge and experience, attending the training has given Matt a huge confidence boost. “I’ve done things that I normally wouldn’t have. I’ve done things which have been daunting previously, such as creating video content and putting it out there for people to see” says Matt. Based in Tees Valley, Matt has benefited from SSW Skills Support for Workers funded training managed by Calderdale College and delivered by Enterprise Made Simple. He says that the training has helped him generate leads through marketing and implement a strategy in his business.

“Enterprise Made Simple’s trainers are knowledgeable, friendly and approachable. I have come from knowing very little about business and it’s processes to understanding and implementing them. Every business, no matter their size or how long they’ve been trading for would certainly benefit from EMS courses.” adds Matt.
