If you have an Instagram profile, you may have created it as a ‘normal’ profile. In a similar notion that Facebook rolled out Facebook Pages (to represent brands on Facebook), Instagram is allowing profiles to be converted into a Business Profile.
If you want to convert your profile to a Business Profile, the steps are comfortably simple
- Visit your profile and go to your settings
- Select “Switch to Business Profile”
- Tap the “Log in with Facebook”
- You’ll see a list of the Facebook Pages you have admin access to
- Review and confirm your business contact information
- Tap Done
What’s different about the Business Profile?
You can add contact details that make it easy for customers to connect with you. Email, phone number, and physical address can be added (you must add at least one of them) – giving Instagram users that want to reach out to you right now, an easy, hurdle-free option.
Users tap on the “Contact” button that will now appear on your profile, and are presented with the options – selecting them will either open the dialer, email client or navigation etc.
Perhaps the most notable change is the access to insights. Insights are metric information that can give you a much better idea of what is, or isn’t, working on your Instagram feed. The best time of day to post on Instagram, and how ‘far’ your posts are getting into the Instagramaverse.
These insights may include:
Total number of times your post was seen
Number of unique accounts who saw your post
- Website Clicks
The number of accounts that have tapped the website link on your Business Profile.
- Follower Activity
Average times your followers are on Instagram on a typical day
If you’re viewing insights from a post, you’ll be able to see Impressions, Reach and Engagement. Engagement includes the total number of unique Instagram accounts that liked or commented on your post.
Can I connect my Instagram Business Profile to more than one Facebook Page?
No, at the moment, an Instagram Business Profile can be connected to only a single Facebook Page.
